Economic News To Watch This Week

As I publish this, the French people have just hit the polls to cast their votes for presidential elections. This is the first round and will be followed by the second round on the 7th of May. The year 2016 was full of drama in the markets. Firstly it was UK referendum (Brexit), then Donald Trump campaigning for the presidency and finally elected as the 45th President of the United States. The markets have never been the same since then, it has been breaking the news after breaking news. The markets are very interesting in 2017.
How will the French elections affect EUR?
France is one of the biggest economies in the European Unions ( E.U). It has a strong influence in the economic decisions. The French economy forms approximately 15% of the European GDP and France remains an important decision maker in Europe. I will be watching EUR closely this week. Please help to keep this blog going. hi Ntombi
Please explain further what you mean in the “Forecast” column ?
Regards Gareth
Hi Gareth
Thank you for reading this post. Since all these microeconomic events are recurring events (meaning some are monthly, weekly and so forth) so an economist will always have some sort of expectations. In short
Forecast means Expected by an economist. There is more to it though, it is not a straightforward thing that I can just explain to you in one sentence.
